Who are we?

The GAP (Environmental Group of Palmeiras) is a NGO that acts in the defense, conservation and recuperation of the environment of Chapada Diamantina, mainly in the town of Palmeiras - where important natural monuments are located, such as the mountains Pai Inácio, Morrão, and Camelo, the waterfall Fumaça, among many others.

In the beginning of the 90s GAP was created by youths from Palmeiras and, since then, its actions have been consolidated to become one of the most representative NGOs of Chapada Diamantina, with a seat in the State Advisory of Environment (CEPRAM) in 2007 and in the Commission Inter-institutional of Environmental Education of the State of the Bahia (CIEA-BA), besides being publicly recognized by the municipality of Palmeiras and state of Bahia.    [singlepic id=1236 w=160 h=120]

The NGO survives on donations from admiring friends, donations to the monitors of the mountain Pai Inacio, sales of products (undershirts, stickers, arts and crafts), sales of native and fruitful saplings, sales of photography books donated by Araquém Alcântara, and the sales of used clothes donated to their bazaar.
